Plants and herbs

Sage is one of the most popular herbs. It is used both in medicine and cosmetics. It is therefore worth learning more about its properties.

Sage is a plant which contains a lot of organic acids, tannins, minerals (among others calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, sodium and potassium), vitamins (A, C and B group) and resinous compounds. Its leaves contain essential oil, which consists of borneol, flavonoids, tannin, cineole and pinene. All this makes sage beneficial not only for our health, but also for our appearance

Sage for lactation and menstrual pain

It is very common for women to turn to sage if they want to stop breastfeeding already, but they have an infusion of milk. It is then recommended to drink an infusion of sage leaves. After a week, the lactation should definitely be less

Sage also helps to treat menstrual problems. All thanks to tannins and essential oil, which have a diastolic effect. Besides, drinking an infusion of this plant helps regulate very heavy menstruation. In turn, reaching for it during menopause reduces mood swings, occurrence of night sweats or characteristic hot flashes during this period.

It nourishes the skin, regenerates it and prevents wrinkles

Sage is also a good choice if we want to take care of our skin. It not only cares for it (thanks to vitamins and minerals), but also helps to fight many problems, such as acne, eczema, ringworm or psoriasis. This plant is also a way to treat wrinkles and skin aging. It is not without reason that you will find it in the composition of creams, gels and lotions for mature skin

It is a good idea to wash your skin with an infusion of sage – use it as a tonic. It is enough to dip a cotton ball in it and gently wipe the face and body. If you do this regularly, your skin will be cleansed, firm and smooth.

The herb that strengthens and nourishes hair

Sage also has an excellent effect on hair. It is enough to pour an infusion of sage over the strands after each washing of the head. After several treatments, the hair roots will be nourished and the hair will be less prone to shedding, stronger and shinier. Thanks to sage they will also become greasy more slowly. However, one should remember that rinsing hair with the infusion of this plant may slightly darken it

Helps digestion

Sage, thanks to resinous compounds and tannins, supports digestion. Drinking an infusion of this herb stimulates bile and gastric juice secretion. It is worth using especially in case of problems with indigestion and flatulence. It also supports appetite.

Sage can be used to make a natural dye for gray hair. Just prepare a concoction of sage and black tea poured over boiling water and boiled. To this add a glass of vodka and every day for a week do the so-called rub, that is rub the infusion into the hair. After a week, they should color and become shiny and much stronger.
