You don’t have to look for self-tanning products on store shelves to get a tan that looks beautiful and natural. You can make it yourself at home. Check out how to do it!

There are many commonly available products that can be successfully used to make homemade self-tanner. Among them are tea, coffee and cocoa, because each of them has coloring properties

The advantage of this type of self-tanner is, of course, natural and safe composition. The cosmetic is a great alternative to its store-bought counterparts because, just like them, it has a bronzing effect. What’s more, you can avoid prolonged exposure to the sun while tanning, as well as visits to a solarium, which have a negative effect on skin condition. The recipe for homemade self-tanner should be of particular interest to people prone to allergies and those with sensitive skin.

Everyone who uses self-tanner cares about the durability of the effect. Unfortunately, the homemade version washes off a little faster, so it needs to be replenished every day. What should compensate for this obligation, in addition to a simple and proven composition, is the ease of application and low price. In addition, compared to its drugstore counterparts, it will not have an artificial, irritating smell to some people.

Natural ingredients

To make a self-tanner yourself, first of all, you need to get the right products. Natural bronzers are, for example, the already mentioned tea, coffee or cocoa. Everyone knows them well, and moreover most people are able to find them in their own kitchen

For an even better color it is recommended to add spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon to the mixture. When using self-tanner, it is also good to make sure that the skin is properly moisturized. This is where natural oils can help. The rest will depend on the consistency you want to achieve. Homemade self-tanner can be spread on the skin mainly by rubbing or spraying.

Recipes for a healthy tan

You can make several types of self-tanners in the comfort of your home. You’ll find examples below

Self-tanning lotion in a bar

The base needed to make this cosmetic consists of: shea butter, beeswax and coconut oil. You should prepare 2 tablespoons of each, and then melt them in a water bath. Another stage of work is to add bronzing ingredients, namely cocoa, cinnamon and nutmeg (1 teaspoon each). The mixed mass of a liquid consistency must be placed in a mold and set aside, and when it cools down put it in the refrigerator to harden.

Sun care oil

To prepare homemade suntan oil, first of all you need one liquid ingredient, such as dissolved coconut oil. Just add a teaspoon of cocoa and cinnamon to it and top everything off with a little nutmeg.

Spray-on self-tanner

To make an easy-to-apply spray self-tanner, tea or coffee are suitable. In the case of the first product, you need to make 4 bags, then brew them and leave them for about 15 minutes. When the brew cools down, it remains to pour it into a bottle with an atomizer. Production of self-tanner with the use of coffee looks very similar – you pour a few teaspoons of it over boiling water and wait until it cools down, and then place it in a special bottle. You can also add some almond oil to it.
